The former director of a Monmouth theatre trust has been given a three-and-a-half-year jail term after admitting two charges of indecent assault.

Victor Bignell, who was given a two-year term in December 2011 after being caught sharing indecent images of children online, was sentenced for the new offences at Canterbury Crown Court last Wednesday (17th October).

The two sentences will run concurrently and Bignell, formerly of Norton, Skenfrith, was ordered to remain on the sex offenders register indefinitely.

Last December, Bignell pleaded guilty to possessing more than 2,000 indecent images of children as well as counts relating to 'extreme pornographic images' and making indecent images of children.

The charges followed an investigation by police in Canada which had led to the arrest of Bignell, a former director of the old Savoy Trust.
