A Monmouth veterinary nurse will be bouncing across the Severn Bridge dressed as a crocodile this weekend.
Adina Valentine, a specialist in exotic animals, is crossing the mile-long bridge on a space hopper, but she had better make it snappy as she is hoping to raise £2,000 for a cause close to her heart.
Adina, who works at Monnnow Bridge Vets, spent a month working at the Tasikosi animal rescue centre in Sulawesi, Indonesia.
The centre specialises in intercepting the illegal animal trade feeding and looking after the animals, and releasing them back into the wild when possible.
"The centre holds and treats hundreds of animals and nurses them back to health," said Adina.
"Tasikoki also has an education centre where local schools are taught about the illegal logging and palm plantations that destroy the rainforest which houses of much of the endangered wildlife.
"The centre is a Non Government Organisation (NGO) and is constantly improving, however improvements are costly and as the centre relies on volunteers and donations, things can be a little slow.
"I recently heard from the manager that Binbin and Bonbon (two bears that reside at Tasikoki) had broken their enclosure and that repairs could cost up to £2,000.
"Obviously having two mischievous bears on the loose is a little dangerous for both staff and other animal residents, so I have decided to try and raise as much money as possible to help."
Adina, who also works part time at Bristol Zoo, will get support on Saturday from her former boss as well as friends and neighbours dressed as children's characters Morph and the Smurfs.
If Adina bounces both ways across the bridge, she will be halfway to a possible world record.
Student Roger Auster, from Gloucestershire, bounced continuously for four miles on a space hopperin two hours and 20 minutes in Cornwall last week.
