EARLIER this year the children’s play park in Usk was given a makeover thanks to the Usk Park Project, now it is turning to local artists for help with its next upgrade.

The Usk Park Project has launched a search for local artists to help it dress the railings of the new park.

It is inviting artists to submit their ideas and after choosing an idea it will apply for grant funding to make it happen.

In terms of design, the artwork can be made from any material but it must be durable as it will be outside permanently.

It should be engaging and inclusive to all those who use the park and ideally should reflect the town of Usk, for example, its flowers, castle, square or river.

The park has already been able to bring the community together, giving children and their parents or even grandparents a place to go, it is hoped that this project will be able to build on it.

Usk Park Project trustee Abigail Barton said: “This exciting project will be a wonderful way to bring the whole community together to create beautiful artwork. If we are lucky enough to secure funding we can make the park in Usk an even more magical place for local children. I would love it if local artists could please contact us.”

For more information or to submit a proposal before the 10th January 2018 deadline inbox the Usk Park Project on Facebook.

Proposals should include details about design ideas, materials, instillation, how the community will be involved, costs and timing for the project including availability to commission the art project for it to be installed in spring/summer 2018.
