USK'S popular Country Market, formerly the WI Market, re-opened its doors for the new season last week and welcomed a great number of new visitors and customers old and new.
At the recent annual general meeting, members of the market welcomed Ann Bowyer as their new chairwoman.
Ann is well known in the region as a former county organiser of Gwent Young Farmers. With this fitting background, she brings a wealth of new ideas and dynamism to the market. It is hoped that the new appointment will help to secure the survival and future development of Usk Country Market.
The market offers a wide range of quality home produced goods, such as plants, fruit and vegetables, delicious baked goods, jams, honey and preserves, eggs and a wide range of craft items.
Open for trade every Thursday, from 10am to 12pm, the Usk Country Market can be found at the Conservative Club in Maryport Street, Usk.
A warm welcome and plenty of hands-on advice is available from the market's expert producers.
