A buildeRs yard in Usk will be developed to accommodate four new units.
The eight existing units at the Chepstow Road site, currently in a poor state of repair, will be demolished.
Members of Monmouthshire County Council's planning committee approved the plans at a meeting yesterday.
The design and access statement attached to the application said the "amount of development, intensity and relationship to existing buildings has been carefully monitored to ensure that the proportion of demolished outbuildings is reflected in the size and location of the replacement units.
"The replacement buildings are designed to incorporate modern building standards as well as a rural form and scale with external materials comprising wood boarding to external walls and profile sheet roof cladding to reinforce the rural aspect."
Usk Town Council recommended the proposal for approval.
There were no objections from Monmouthshire County Council's highways or environmental health boards.
Councillor Bryan Strong said: "I do like this propsal.
"It's been a mess for 15 years. The applicant has done well to address residents' concerns."
