Usk volunteers are celebrating another win in Wales in Bloom.

Their entry this year won a gold award in Class 6 (large village class) of the national competition. Judges Jim Goodwin and John Woods were impressed with the colourful floral displays throughout Usk, some outstanding gardens and the contribution of young people and the volunteer team responsible for the entry.

John Evans, retiring chairman of Usk in Bloom, thanked all who had been involved in this year's entry.

He said the floral displays and community spirit of Usk help to make it such a remarkable place to live in and to visit.

Usk will receive its award at the prestigious Wales in Bloom Awards Presentation Ceremony, which this year is to be held in Chepstow on 16th September.

There was also another Monmouthshire success – Chepstow (silver gilt award) won the small town class with Abergavenny (silver gilt) joint second in that class. Raglan came second in the large village class with a silver award.
