MADAM,
These have nothing in the way of facilities such as a doctor, a school or village shop and are lucky if there is a mobile phone connection and decent broadband. Not only does the bus service provide a link to both towns for those who have no cars, cannot drive or choose not to do so for environmental and other reasons, it provides a means of access to these missing necessities and provides a much needed amenity for the young, elderly and lonely who would otherwise be unable to enjoy visiting their local towns, friends and relations.
Whilst it is understandable that our local authorities need to seek ways to reduce expenditure, they, as our representatives need to understand that they have a responsibility to serve our rural communities and the less privileged and able residents.
By closing the 65 bus service they will be reneging on that responsibility. We urge them therefore to act to act to retain the 65 bus service.
