MONMOUTH Community Under Fives (MCU5) had its final meeting last Friday (23rd August).
The group has been running for 24 years but has been forced to close due to economical reasons.
Sue Weston, supervisor at MCU5, said: "We have lost too many children to other nurseries for us to carry on. It just wouldn't be economically viable to continue.
"We didn't receive our Early Years Provider status from Monmouthshire County Council meaning we were unable to provide free sessions for children over the age of three."
MCU5 had financial problems more than two years ago when they had to leave their previous premises, rented from Monmouthshire County Council, due to rent increases. They subsequently moved to Bridges Community Centre to meet every week.
