SIR,

I live with a disability which prompted me to move to an area of peace and tranquility which would enable me to enjoy an increased quality of life.

I work part time and manage to live independently without recommended daily medication. I do not claim any welfare benefits or social care services.

This has all been put under threat by the recent application for the construction of a 46m wind turbine.

On a personal level this will disrupt my peaceful existence with potentially devastating effects on my health. I am concerned specifically regarding the constant drone emitted and the effect that this may have on both my mental and physical health.

It has been indicated in causing stress and depression and this could prompt further symptoms for me resulting in severe neurological damage. Whilst I am aware that this is all only a possible impact for me personally, the impact for our locality is huge.

The wind turbine proposed is as high as Nelson's column without Nelson, close to housing (350m), public rights of way/highways, sited in an area close to an ancient historic monument (Trecastle Motte and Bailey), a grade 2 listed building, an area of specific beauty where rare bats are known to have maternity colonies and roosting sites and at a point which is dubious as to whether or not it will be effective, regardless of the usual concerns about wind turbines and their efficiency.

Whether wind turbines are seen to be a solution to the energy crisis or not as I believe, putting them in the wrong location, as the one that is proposed here, achieves nothing but unhappiness for those who have to suffer the impact, including anyone who pays electricity bills which increase in order to cover the large subsidies that are enjoyed by the owner of the turbine which enjoys a feedback tariff that is double that of the value of the electricity produced.

This whole process including the unhelpful way the process has been handled by Raglan Council and the applicant who applied using a misleading address has already caused a hge amount of undue stress which has affected not only my own health but that of other non disabled residents. Please do not allow this turbine to set a precedent for Penyclawdd and oppose the proposal.
