The planned wireless electronic sensor to warn residents of a closure at the recycling centre at Troy has been dumped.
The idea was to install a sensor on the gate that would report online when it was shut and avoid the frustration of visitors to the centre turning up to find the site temporarily shut while skips were changed over.
However the £700 sensor seemed to offer no quicker solution than email alerts sent out by Monmouthshire County Council and the idea was dropped at Monday’s environmental affairs committee meeting at the Shire Hall.
