Richard Knott and Jack Walby came away from Bournemouth and District Car Club's Three Counties Stages with 19th overall/ fifth in class in the Dynamic Drivers-backed BMW 325.

The old Second World War airfield at Smearthorpe played host to 60 crews and 40 stage miles.

Eight stages were laid out within the confines of the Airfield, basked in glorious sunny weather, but the duo had a totally trouble-free run, just lacking the power of the 2.5 Escorts with sequential gearboxes.

The event was won comfortably by Steve and Yvonne Furzeland in their Subaru WRC.

"It was a really good sharp event, we just need a lot more power to compete with the Escorts but it was good fun," said Jack.

"The car ran faultlessly and Rich drove very well. Thanks to Colin for servicing and my dad."

Knott is now looking to switch to BMW M3 Compact and possibly do a few Belgian National events.

"I am looking at a Compact M3 over next few weeks, I drove one the other week and was impressed with the power and the handling," said Knott.

"If we can do a deal then I will look at a few Belgian events, as it's not a car you take into the woods, I just need more power now."
