TRIBUTES have been paid to Monmouth Town FC’s former reserve team manager, youth coach and treasurer Rich Thorp, who has died after a short illness.
The Kingfishers posted today: “It is with great sadness that we share the news that following a very short illness, our dear club man, Rich Thorp, has sadly passed away.
“Rich gave so much to Monmouth Town Football Club over the years – from his early days as a youth coach, to managing the reserve team, until very recently serving as our treasurer. He was always willing to give his time, energy and support to the club.
“Over the past five years in particular, Rich played such an important part in helping shape the club and building strong foundations for its future.
“His contribution, commitment and friendship have meant so much to so many of us, and his loss will be deeply felt throughout the whole club.
“Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Jo, Fin, Ella, and the wider Thorp family at this incredibly difficult time.
“Rich, thank you for everything you gave to the club, and for the many memories you leave behind. You will be very sadly missed.
“Forever a Kingfisher.”
