A triathlon team has recently been formed at the Monmouth School Sports Complex.

The complex, through its manager Carl Dean and staff, have been very supportive in the formation of the club and are providing use of the excellent 25m swimming pool two evenings per week, as well as acting as a base for the new club.

Triathlon is one of the newest Olympic sports, combing swimming, cycling and running. The club already has twenty members, including some highly experienced athletes.

Two of them - Dave Rees and David Hughes - have represented Great Britain at age group level, while Caroline Brain is a member of the Great Britain Biathlon Squad.

The club plans to enter a number of events this summer, culminating in two members competing in the British Long Course Triathlon Championships, which are being held in North Wales.

The club meets Wednesday and Friday evenings and can be contacted at the Monmouth School Sports Complex.
