MADAM, I wish to complain in the strongest terms about the ongoing problem with the new traffic lights in Monmouth at Monk Street/ Priory Street/ Dixton Road. Since the new lights have been installed there have been regular power outages on the lights making it incredibly dangerous for cars and especially pedestrians. My daughter uses the pedestrian crossing to get to and from school and is suffering frequent scary dashes to safety across the road. While I was on the phone reporting the problem to the police via 101, my husband, travelling by car, was collecting my daughter from a school trip and was nearly hit by a driver who assumed that no light means green for go and came far too fast through the defunct traffic lights. This ongoing situation needs to be resolved once and for all so that Monmouth residents and parents can feel confident that the traffic lights and pedestrian system will be operating for their safety. Mrs Jo Booth (Monmouth)
