At 11:00 on Friday 15th August 2025, all Monmouth residents are invited to attend a public service in commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of VJ Day (Victory over Japan Day) which will be held at the Castle, Monmouth. This public service will be an opportunity for the whole community to come together in collective thanksgiving and remembrance of those who continued to engage in fighting after VE Day and would eventually bring the Second World War to an end. Wreaths will be laid as part of this service.

Following the service, the national Two-Minute Silence will be held at midday.

The Monmouth community are invited to come together and commemorate this important event to ensure the “Forgotten Army” are never forgotten.
