SIR,

A gold star should be awarded for the efforts to keep Trellech Primary School open during the recent snowy weather.

The caretakers, governors, headteacher Karen Christofi – even a local tractor driver – were all enthusiastically employed to clear the car park, pathways, and yards in an effort to keep the school safe and pupils learning.

Our efforts to clear the snow the previous day were undone with the evening's snow-fall.

But with mugs of tea and the assistance of local tractor driver Andrew Lewis, we ensured the school was safe and ready for learning within a couple of hours the following morning.

10 out of 10 for effort, Trellech – a job well done.
