Monmouth is preparing to welcome three of the country's most popular comedians over the coming months.

Stand-ups Sean Lock and Phill Jupitus and impressionist Alistair McGowan will all be performing at the Savoy Theatre.

Sean Lock comes to town on Saturday 9th March with his 'Purple Van Man' tour.

One of the UK's most highly acclaimed and original comedians, the British Comedy Award winner Lock has performed on Live At The Apollo and Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow.

He has been a team captain for 14 series of Channel 4's show '8 Out of 10 Cats' and his extensive TV credits also include appearances on Never Mind the Buzzcocks, QI and Mock the Week.

On Saturday 27th April, one of the UK's favourite impressionists Alistair McGowan goes back to his stand-up roots with his new two-hour show 'Not Just A Pretty Voice'.

He is asking the big questions like 'would the world be a happier place if Ed Miliband was Prime Minister?', 'What are we really thinking while watching Shakespeare?' and 'is Hilary Devey Jessie J's mum?'

Expect to hear everyone from Andy Murray to Colin Murray, riffs on everything from Jeff Stelling to bad spelling and at least one song about butter.

Phill Jupitus, well-known for his appearances on Never Mind The Buzzcocks and a host of other TV shows, will be appearing on Friday 10th May.

His career as a performer began in 1984 when he quit his job as a civil servant to follow a new direction as a performance poet on the alternative comedy circuit.

His hugely successful standup tours have included Jedi, Steady, Go and Quadrophobia, and he has worked extensively on radio, variously as a contributor, panelist and presenter.

Tickets for all three shows go on sale at the Savoy on Saturday 2nd February at 9am. Cash only.
