TWO local inventors have gained top awards at an internationl inventors exhibition. Emily Webb (20) of Trelleck, gained her award for inventing the Oarsome Potential handle. The webway, is an ergonomically designed handle and integral mechanism reducing the risk of injury , correcting technique and improving performance of novice and competitive rowers. The Oarsome Potential has been trialled by prestigious schools and rowing clubs and received enthusiastic support from coaches and athletes. It gives greater ease in rapidly increasing the rate of strokes per minute and increased comfort handle is said to 'fit' the body. It also helps prevent rower slightly leaning out of the boat on the recovery of the stroke, a common poor technique which slows the boat down and upsets the balance. The invention was awarded a Gold and Platinum award in 2007 for the British Invention Show and has now gained a silver medal at the World Invention Show, Geneva The Oarsome is about to go into to production with Logic Asia, based in Newport, South Wales.
