Olympic silver medallist Tom Lucy, a former pupil of Monmouth School, recently returned to the boat club where he learnt his trade as a youngster. Tom spent the afternoon on the river in a coaching launch with one of his former coaches Rob Howe and helped to put them through their paces some of the current Monmouth oarsmen in a challenging outing in fours.

He spent much time talking to the boys who were fascinated by his Beijing experiences and the preparation he had undergone to get to the games. Later he talked through a video of his Olympic final and answered many questions from the audience.

Tom graciously donated some GB kit which he promised to return and sign so that it can be offered for auction at the Monmouth School Rowing Club Ball in the Spring (information and tickets from David Blackham at the School).
