Toffee, the little Shetland pony who was stolen from his home in Oswestry, has been found safe and well.

The distinctive chestnut gelding, whose photograph and details were published in last week's Beacon, is currently being cared for by the Society for the Welfare of Horses and Ponies at St Maughans.

"He's perfectly well, the farrier's just trimming his feet now," said SWHP Chairman, Jenny MacGregor.

The horse hospital were contacted on Friday by Cheshire police who asked them if they would collect the pony from a couple in the Raglan/Abergavenny area.

Toffee's delighted owner, Nerys Morris, thanked the Beacon for publishing her appeal

"Thank you so much - I think it was the news paper that flushed him out.

"We're so pleased he's safe," she said.
