SIR,
In response to last week's leading article, I feel this is only the tip of the iceberg of immigration, illegal or otherwise, entering Britain.
Foreign restaurants can be the biggest offenders, where staff don't always have the necessary visas to work within the law, undermining those who pay their way while working.
Multicultural Britain is not working. We cannot hide from it anymore.
There are too many divides culturally, historically and religiously to overcome.
Integration cannot be possible if language and communication are eroded.
Let us hope Monmouth's unique identity will not be wiped out by further house building and incessant immigration, the system can barely cope as it is.
Let us try to preserve our wonderful town.
