SIR,
It was heartening to see this week that the Coalition Government has backed the recommendations made by the committee on climate change to set the world's most ambitious carbon emission cuts.
By committing the country to cutting emissions by 50 per cent of 1990 levels by 2025, it's sending out a signal that the UK is serious about combating climate change.
Contrary to the argument that this will reduce the UK's economic advantage on a global scale, we're already seeing big renewable energy manufacturers investing in the UK market, particularly offshore wind and solar PV.
Even the biggest of big UK companies – Tesco – is backing the new Climate Change Act arguing that it will drive growth in green jobs and make Britain a leader in renewables.
On the local scale, renewable energy installers like us can now respond to the demand from householders, communities and businesses for carbon-cutting technologies such as solar PV systems.
