SIR,

For quite some time I have thought that two of the major probems in the world are greed and selfishness.

When one considers the budget last week, that some 21 out of 27 (I believe) of our cabinet, who are running the country, are millionaires, and the chancellor reduces personal tax from 50 per cent to 40 per cent for the benefit of most of them?

There must have been smiles all around but, to then penalise old age pensioners by reducing their income in a number of artful ways is an abuse of the people who, over the last 40, 50 or 60 years, have created what was, until a comparative few years ago, one of the finest countries in the world to live in, with counties like Monmouthshire, maybe it is time to start the 'Elderly Party' for those over 55? or 60?

There might be a stampede to join.
