Huge crowds filled the sunny streets of Monmouth to see the 28th Monmouth Carnival at its best.

A parade of 69 Rolls-Royce cars made their way from the showground to St James Square and headed the carnival procession through Monmouth.

Following them were members of Monmouth Fire Station in their traditional role of heralding the arrival of the carnival entries with sirens.

This year, they had also re-entered the large float class, after a gap of a number of years, with characters from the world of Far Far Away such as Shrek, Princess Fiona, and Donkey.

The other entries into the large float class were carnival stalwarts Wyesham Social club with 'In the mood', a VE day-themed party, and the Off Centre Theatre.

Other entries came from Millbrook Garden Centre with 'Alice in Wonderland', Monmouth Rotary Club, The Attik, Wyesham Cubs with 'Phantoms and Shadows', Noodles, Monmouth Baby and Toddler Group with 'Teddy Bears Picnic', Wyesham Scouts and Laurel and Hardy.
