MADAM,
Open Doors gave Monmouth people, and many visitors, the opportunity to look at their buildings with different eyes, to see what goes on inside them, and to learn something of their history, especially the interesting bits that they never otherwise see.
The numbers aren’t in yet, but there will have been around 2,500 individual visits to the fifteen buildings open last weekend.
From the comments people made it is obvious they were enjoying the opportunity.
There were many comments along the lines of: “I’ve often wondered what it was like inside,” and: “That was really interesting”.
Thanks to all the property owners who opened their buildings, and to all the people who gave their time to steward and explain them.
Thanks also to Mandarin Stone and Monmouthshire Building Society for sponsoring the event, and to the Monmouthshire Beacon for also sponsoring and publicising it.
