Police are appealing for information following two linked incidents that happened overnight between Thursday September 13th and Friday September 14th, 2012.

A blue Skoda Octavia, registration number CE06 WCX  was stolen from an address at Martin Close, Rogiet between 11.30pm on Thursday 13th and 3.30am on Friday 14th.

This vehicle was then used at 4am in the commission of a burglary at One Stop, Usk.

Four offenders wearing masks broke into the shop and attempted to steal the ATM machine, which is emptied each evening, before leaving the scene in the same vehicle. The vehicle was subsequently recovered in the Caldicot area.

David Neale, the store manager, commented, "Thankfully nothing was taken because the cash machine is emptied every evening."

"Once the thieves realised there was no cash they left immediately. They didn't even steal a packet of biscuits."

The thieves used a crowbar to open the doors and gain access to the interior of the shop and the ATM cash dispenser. When they discovered there was no money they left.

Police are appealing for anyone who knows anything about the incident, who saw the vehicle at any stage or has found any discarded clothing in the Caldicot area particularly a red hooded jacket, a ski mask, a bright yellow scarf and any other dark clothing to contact police on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
