Madam, Like many other voters in the Ross area I went to the Youth Centre in Hill Street on the 5th May to cast my vote in this years Local Elections. Due to the stiff nature of the door restrainers I sustained an injury to my finger. I asked one of the council officials present for some first aid dressing as I could see it required some immediate attention. To the embarrassment of the official he was only to provide part of a large dressing as there was a very limited variety of first aid dressing available in the First Aid Box. I attended the casualty department who dressed the wound with strip stitches. As the polling station was used by the young people of the town I felt that it was important that the attention of the Returning Officer was drawn to what happened on two grounds, lack of a full range of First Aid Dressings and the cover for any member of the public using the building. My initial letter to the Returning Officer was alleged to have not been received so I sent a second letter. On Tuesday, June 5th, 2007, from the Youth Service stating it was not the responsibility of the Youth Service to provide fist Aid dressings but the duty of the organisation hiring the premises from the Youth service. It was some what confusing as the letter was addressed to me as a member of the staff running the elections! Still not having had a reply from the Returning Officer, Mr Neil Pringle I wrote again on Friday, June 22nd, 2007. Up to the time of writing this letter I have had neither a reply or acknowledgement of my letter. I hope by bringing the matter to the attention of the Gazette I might eventually get some official response.

Richard Miles, Ross
