Speaking upon the appreciation of being selected as this year’s main charitable organisation The Beacon spoke to the Director and General Manager who has shared their thoughts.
Director and General Manager, Chris Ryde, said: “The Savoy is honoured to be the main charitable beneficiary of this year’s Monmouthshire Show. The theatre and the show are in fact two of the county’s oldest institutions as both were founded in the mid 19th century.
“The Savoy first presented theatre in 1850 and the show dates from 1857. It is vital that the link is maintained. It is wonderful that both organisations are still flourishing at the centre of the local community and long may they continue to do so.”
The theatre was recently voted to be the ‘Best Theatre in Wales’ in 2019 and 2026 and people were asked to cast their vote on the Muddy Stilettos website by May 26 for who they thought was the Best Theatre in Wales.
