The Savoy Theatre, located in Church Street, Monmouth have proudly been nominated for a fantastic achievement, against other theatres across Wales.
As well as this category there are others which people have been nominated under, including: Best Afternoon Tea, Best Bar and Best Florist.
Manager at the Savoy Theatre, Chris Ryde, said: “The Savoy is honoured to have been nominated as Theatre of the Year on the Muddy Stilettos website. It is hopefully a reflection of the professional status that the theatre now enjoys with a wide range of five-star entertainment at affordable prices and all the best new films.
“We hope that all our many supporters, friends and audience members will support us and vote by May 26.”
Monmouth’s Savoy is at the heart of the community, originally dating back to the 1640s when The Bell Inn staged pieces of entertainment and is located on the oldest working theatre sites in Wales. The Savoy is a huge part of our community supporting local performers whist bringing productions to the town.
The building is a grade two listed building and offer an array of entertainment for people in the community to enjoy, including drama, comedy, music and films. Over the years they have held notable performers, including Tommy Blaize, lead singer on Strictly Come Dancing, Basil Brush, famous puppet fox performer, Bernie Clifton, comedian and crackerjack star and so many more.
The theatre is a fond location of Monmouth town, a kind which brings people together and those who will have lots of memories there over the years, highlighting just how it has served the community over time.
