The joke is on us
Sir,
Today I found one of the UK's funniest comedians.
No it was not Jimmy Carr or Frankie Boyle, it was a bus
driver!
While having the misfortune of using public
transport to get to the big smoke of Newport, I asked the
driver for a return ticket. Now this is the funny part: when
I asked the price he told me £8!
I found it that funny I had him repeat it,but it wasn't
that funny the second time around as I actually had to
pay. A single fare to Newport is now £4.75!
So people who are under the age of a bus pass and
are not students have to win the National Lottery just to
travel. But as the bus driver pointed out, it's now the local
authority that has the say on how much to charge.
I will give Newport a miss from now on and pay
£4.05p and go to Hereford instead.
