SIR,
A cul-de-sac used as a footpath by hundreds of people including young pupils from Osbaston School going to the swimming pool, the leisure centre and the boat club; and a 'safe route to school' for Monmouth Comprehensive School, has very limited capacity for motorised vehicles.
Please could Monmouthshire County Council (MCC) see sense and reconsider its decision to use The Burgage as a right of way for builders' vehicles, emergency vehicles and all manner of lorries and private cars.
These would, in the first place, have to negotiate the bottleneck on the Old Dixton Road, the bottleneck at the entrance to The Burgage and then the pinchpoint half way along.
Could MCC return to its original 'no go' and ensure the clinic redevelopment makes use of the New Dixton Road for access.
The Burgage, I repeat, is a cul-de-sac – there is no emergency exit.
