SIR,

The dust has settled on the county council elections held last Thursday.

As the Labour Party candidate, I write to thank the residents of Raglan ward for the kind reception shown to me on the doorstep and a special thanks to those who voted for me.

It was a fascinating contest. I congratulate the winner Penny Jones. I wish her well over the next four years as she tackles the issues and problems of Raglan.

I would also like to thank Andrew Crump for the service he has given to Raglan, as he steps down as county councillor for Raglan after 21 years.

I will be carefully putting away my Red Rose rosette and retiring from active party politics. I will, however, continue to devote my energies to the non-party political Bryngwyn Rural Community Action Group to prevent the building of an inappropriate livestock market at huge public expense in Bryngwyn.

Stuart Willcock

(Bryngwyn)
