Madam, Anyone that has been into Alton Street Surgery over the past few weeks will probably be aware I took part in the recent Great North Run. I was collecting sponsorship to raise money for Leukaemia Research which, for a variety of reasons, is a charity personally close to my heart. I wanted to express my sincere thanks to those who have given so generously. Having only been at the practice for just over a year I was genuinely overwhelmed by the support I receive. I would like also to extend my thanks to my colleagues who did the hard work organising and collecting sponsorship at the practice and who also gave generously. As for the run itself I came in at just over two and a half hours which I was a touch disappointed with. Although the mind remained willing throughout unfortunately my legs, once they reached the 10mile stage, were not in agreement. Nonetheless it was a wonderful experience and I hope to compete again next year. I am even hoping to persuade Dr Clayton to join me!
Dr P Downie, Alton Street Surgery
