The Ross Gazette editor's son, Marcus Robertson, recently got married to Wan Pen in Thailand, with a Buddhist ceremony. The bride's name means full moon and the ceremony was at five o'clock so the guests could watch the sun set and see the full moon high in the sky. Because of this it was a lucky day to be married. The venue was beside the sea and had been decorated by the 'wedding arranger'. The couple wore Thai dress and the majority of the guests were on the bride's side, including the Mayor and Mayoress from her home town. However, Marcus' mother, Chris, and some of his friends made the long journey to be there. It was a beautiful ceremony, everyone had to stand in line to pour water into the folded hands of the couple who wore white 'crowns' which were joined together. They also wore special buddhist flowers. A Thai band played traditional music and after the ceremony there was a display of Thai dancing. A banquet of Thai food was served and Marcus and Pen toasted one another in duty-free Champagne. They then cut the wedding cake and had the first dance. In spite of language differences everyone got to know one another and it was a truly happy event. Later on everyone 'assisted' Marcus and Pen to their flower bedecked hotel room overlooking the sea, and the guests went off to swim in the moonlight
