MONMOUTH Cricket Club's David Teague celebrated his call-up to the Worcestershire County League representative side – by being run out without facing a ball.

Teague will become the first Monmouth cricketer to play for the Worcestershire County League representative side when they face the Staffordshire League on Sunday 19th June.

The opener has had an outstanding start to Monmouth's Division 2 campaign, scoring 397 runs in seven innings at an average of 79.1.

Teague was given the good news by the Worcestershire League selectors last Friday (3rd June).

But, just 24 hours later, the former Newport and Llanarth man was run out without facing a ball in Monmouth's four-wicket derby win over Wormelow.

The League Cricket Conference Trophy is being played at Bromsgrove, and Monmouth Cricket Club's members wish Teague the best of luck on his debut.
