A violin teacher for Monmouth School for Girls and Monmouth Prep School is making a splash with his charity fundraising campaign.

Christopher Horner, tackled his sixth Castle 2 Castle Open Water Swim to raise money for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).

He took on his sixth RNLI swim from Pendennis to St Mawes castles earlier this month along with 450 other swimmers.

The Castle 2 Castle Swim is a one mile open water sea swim across the Carrick Roads. It starts at Pendennis Castle in Falmouth and finishes at St Mawes Castle on the Roseland Peninsula.

He said: “Can’t think of a better way to raise money for RNLI, a great entirely voluntarily supported charity, very close to my family’s heart. As we know, RNLI does vital work apart from sea rescues and will continue to be active in the imminent increase of flood rescue and relief operations.”

He added: “For those of you who kindly donated last time when the Swim was cancelled due to Covid, your donations have been carried forward. Please support me and be assured that your contribution is going to a very important cause which most of us, or those we know, will connect with at some point.”

Mr Horner has already raised more than half of his £500 goal, with the help of Gift Aid. He’s also pulled in £106 from other contributions, totalling nearly £400.

RNLI’s volunteer lifeboat crews provide a 24 hour rescue service in the UK and Ireland and their seasonal lifeguards look after people on busy beaches. Their flood rescue team helps those affected by flooding.
