BUDDING star, 10-year-old Lewis Powell, has raised hun- dreds for the British Heart Foundation.

The talented school boy wrote and produced his own play, 'Into the Book' which was performed at Dingestow Village Hall on Sunday 23rd November to a packed audience.

Lewis was diagnosed with having a hole in his heart, which led to his fundraising for the British Heart Foundation.

Lewis's mum Carla Powell said she was "overwhelmed" by the number of people who turned up to support the event.

Into the Book follows a girl called Mia who loves to read but is discouraged by her parents.

The play takes a magical turn after Mia falls down a mysterious vortex, meeting different characters from her favourite books.

Local businesses donated prizes for the raffle held on the night.

Carla said she was "extremely grateful" to the businesses for their support.

Catherine Campbell, fundraising and volunteering manager for BHF Cymru, said: "Lewis obviously has a great creative gift in being able to write a play that inspired people to support us as his chosen charity and raise a fantastic £319 for us. He is an inspiration to us all and we thank him and his family for fundraising to power our work.

"But many more people need our help. From babies born with life-threatening heart problems to the many Mums, Dads and grandparents who survive a heart attack and endure the daily battles of heart failure.

"Every pound raised and every minute of people's time all helps make a difference to people's lives.
