The Civic Service parade is led by the Corps of Drums from The Royal Logistic Corps of Cardiff. This year's Service took place in St Mary's Church, Monmouth, and was conducted by the Rev Jeremy Harris and the Rev David McGladdery. The new Mayor, Counc Ann Weare, told those present: "Over the next year my aim will be to encourage the Town Council to consider the environmental impact of every single decision it makes, and to actively look for ways in which it can help the citizens of our town live cleaner, greener lives". She said her chosen three charities would be in memory of Graham Powell; the 1st Wyesham Scouts and Transition Monmouth
