TWO groups of scouts from Usk have topped hundreds of others of competitors from Gwent in a expedition challenge held on the weekend.

Gwentrek was held over three days from Friday 30th September to Sunday 2nd October and challenged groups of participants to complete self planned routes without leaders.

The groups were challenged on the accuracy of their route, independence from leaders, kit, navigation and camping skills.

There were three categories of competition with Usk based groups winning two of those.

The 1st Usk Scouts won the GT+ category while the Usk based Bogeymen Explorers won GTX category.
