A host of local crews headed for Welshpool last Saturday (14th May) for the SJR Plains National Rally, round 4 of the BTRDA series, and both In-Car Services Welsh Clubmans and Hankook Welsh National Championships.

One hundred and forty crews left the Mid-Wales town for seven stages in the classic Welsh Forests of Dyfi and Hafren with the last two-mile test in the event sponsors timber yard.

Ben Williams and Russell Joseph took top local honours finishing 33rd overall, 13th in class, despite finding the opening tests very slippery.

A slow puncture on stage 2 was followed by a cracked rear disc in Dyfi West. They were also losing time on hairpins when the car kept cutting out, but were well pleased with the finish and another good haul of Welsh Clubman points.
