The forecasted storm may have seemed to have missed Monmouth, but one Wye Valley business was counting the cost after a clearing-up operation.

The Anchor Inn, Tintern, was the victim of a flood from a blocked culvert above the A466 road through Tintern, which sent a torrent of muddy water past the Abbey and straight into the courtyard of the public house.

Water also found its way inside, but it was all hands to the pumps Monday morning to ready the place for opening in the evening.

The road was closed while cleaning operations took place.
