TINTERN Abbey recently held a stargazing event at the site of the historic monastery.

Organised by Welsh heritage service Cadw and Dark Sky Wales, the event proved very popular with a talk after the evening's supper.

Dark Sky's Allan Trow gave a talk from a mobile digital planetarium that suited everyone, whether experienced astronomers or novice star gazers.

Assembly Member Nick Ramsey, who attended, said: "I'm certainly inspired by the fantastic Dark Sky team to check out the night sky more regularly.

"We couldn't be better placed to spend time stargazing locally."
