Human and equine sporting stars are heading for Chepstow Racecourse this Saturday (October 13th).
Olympic gold medal winning show jumper Nick Skelton will be joining four equine superstars as part of 'All About The Horse Race Day', the course's first jump meeting of the season.
This Saturday's meeting, sponsored by Blue Square, has a variety of activities aimed at broadening the understanding and appeal of horse racing.
There will be a Parade of Equine Champions including this year's John Smith's Grand National winner Neptune Collonges, the 2010 Aintree victor Comply Or Die, the 2010 Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Imperial Commander and Well Chief, victorious in the Arkle at Cheltenham in 2004.
Nick Skelton, who was a member of the Olympic gold medal winning show jumping team at London 2012, will also be among the guests.
There will be an opportunity to 'Meet a Racehorse', have a pony ride, learn the tricks of the trade from a farrier and even have a go on a racehorse simulator to experience some of the challenges faced by a jockey.
For those who do follow horse racing with a passion, this meeting often sees the appearance of numerous leading chasing and hurdling prospects. It is viewed by many as the start of the winter jumps season.
One of last season's leading hurdlers, Fingal Bay, is likely to make his debut over fences in the Blue Square Bet Robert Mottram Memorial Novices' Chase. The race was won last year by Cue Card, now one of the top two mile chasers in the country.
General Manager Rebecca Joy said: "It'll be an enjoyable day out for people who love their horse racing and for those who have never or rarely experienced the thrills of the sport."
"Horse racing is the second most popular spectator sport in Britain with more than six million attendees in 2011 but we are always working on new ideas to attract more people and 'All About The Horse Race Day' is an example of that."
The gates open at 12 noon and the first race is off at 1.55pm.
