ON 2nd November 2016, SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, will host its first charity race day at Chepstow Racecourse. Gates for the race day will open at 11am, with the first race kicking off just after 1pm.

The charity is encouraging local residents and businesses in the Chepstow area to get involved and help raise money for the Armed Forces community.

Taking place at the Chepstow Race Course, Monmouthshire, SSAFA has created two day-packages that guests can chose from.

The silver package, available to friends and families will cost £590 for groups of ten or £59 for individual seats. It will include a table in the Coral Hospitality Suite with Bucks Fizz on arrival, a two course sit down lunch, Afternoon Tea and an expert tipster to guide punters through the races and increase chances of winning big.

The gold package, at £2,590, is for local businesses and will provide the benefits of the silver package plus sponsorship and naming of their own race, coverage of the race in national, regional and racing newspapers plus live coverage on Sky’s “At The Races”, a full page advert in the day’s programme and the company banners displayed around the course.

Proceeds from these fantastic packages go to SSAFA, the UK’s oldest Armed Forces charity, which provides vital support and help to the military community, including those who are currently serving, veterans and their families. The charity has 9 branches in Wales alone and the support SSAFA offers varies from housing to adoption, bereavement support and mental health issues.

SSAFA Fundraising Director, Tegan Jones, says: “The SSAFA Race Day at Chepstow Racecourse will be a great day out for local punters and also provides a brilliant opportunity for local businesses in Chepstow to get their name out there.

“All money raised from the event will be used to help us to continue to provide practical, emotional and financial assistance for the 60,000 people SSAFA supports every year.

“Whether they are World War II veterans or young service men and women who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, every single one deserves our help if they are in need and this event is a great opportunity to support a worthy cause whilst having a lot of fun at the same time.”
