SKENFRITH Festival – held on the beautifully sunny weekend of July 4th and 5th – really did go with a bang, with vintage firearms as part of the proceedings and a laser show to finish off events on the Saturday.
The village, which boasts one of Wales's famous castles set in a stunning scenery, proved the backdrop for two days of fun and festivities.
Skenfrith became a foodie heaven during the festival with lots of specialties from the surrounding area, with a wide array of local beers, ciders and wines on tap too.
The whole event took place to the sound of more than a dozen different musical acts.
Children were spoilt for choice with activities including a special appearance by Elsa from Frozen who performed on stage before mingling with the Festival crowd.
The Jitterbug Circus proved particularly popular too, with plenty of children showing off their newfound stilt walking skills and creating giant bubbles in the castle grounds.
A special feature of the festival was the attendance of the Sealed Knot, who set up their living camp within the castle walls and enjoyed the festival in true 17th century style.
In addition, the unique Border Morris Widders group provided a unique and highly colourful snapshot of the past.
Also proving popular was the Skenfrith Duck Race. A huge crowd gathered on the bridge over the Monnow to watch 1,000 yellow ducks race to the finishing line.
A spokesperson for festival organisers said: "All in all (it was) a fabulous couple of days with all funds going to support the upkeep of one of the centerpieces of the village – the Village Hall – and a range of other local initiatives."
