THE streets of Tutshill have been adorned with a collection of scarecrows during the past week as part of the annual scarecrow trail.

Now in its eighth year, the trail is an established Tutshill tradition which raises money for the maintenance of St Luke’s church.

This year the scarecrow trail is made up of 32 entries all following the theme of children’s cartoon characters.

The trail has grown into a thriving community event with people buying maps, following the trail and trying to identify all of the scarecrows they pass as part of the competition.

Liz McBride, pictured with her entry this year has been involved in the scarecrow trail since it started.

She said the event has brought the community together. She has met many people form the neighbourhood as a result of being involved and this year has families walking out walking together on the trail.

She said: “This year we had a family come past and the mum said it was their fourth time on the trail this week.”

The competition also includes prizes for the best scarecrow as well as a people’s vote.

These will all be awarded at a results show held on Sunday 23rd April from 3pm to 5pm at Tutshill School Hall.

The event will include tea and cakes, scarecrow-related crafts and activities and the answers to the quiz and all the other award winners will be announced.

To take part in the scarecrow trail buy a map and quiz for £3 from the lifestyle shop at 43 Beachley Rd, Tutshill. Completed quizzes can be submitted at the latest by 5pm on Saturday 22nd April to St Luke’s Church, Tutshill on Coleford Road.
