CHEPSTOW drivers are being asked by local officers to check they have moved all valuables from sight following reports of thefts from vehicles.

In the last week, five cars have had items stolen including a wallet, DVD player, camera, glasses, sports kit and a case.

Cars have been broken into in areas including Thornwell, Shirenewton and St Mary's and thieves have been smashing windows after seeing valuables inside.

Inspector Lysha Thompson said: "We've said it lots of times before but please check your cars to make sure any valuables are either taken with you or hidden from view in the boot. Thieves take no time at all to smash a window and grab what's inside. A 30 second check could save you the cost of a smashed window, the trouble of getting it fixed and the cost of losing your valuables."
