SIR,

In response to R Delaney's letter (Beacon, 11th April 'Litter problem is getting worse'), I agree with some of his comments and commend his concern regarding the litter situation around Monmouth, which in places is a disgrace.

But I do not agree with his comment implying Monmothians do not care about their town.

I, with a few other like-minded volunteers, including some town councillors, have on numerous occassions removed large amounts of litter etc from various areas around Monmouth, at times litter-picking when the weather has not been pleasant.

So, some Monmothians do care passionately about keeping areas of Monmouth litter-free but unfortunately litter is a constant battle.
