SIR,
I would like to say how proud I am of my granddaughter Emma King for her fantastic fundraising and being nominated to carry the Olympic Torch, and that this year will be the third time she has run the London Marathon.
I was born in Goldwire Lane in 1925 and grew up living on Rockfield Road. I married and moved away, returning to run the King Henry V public house on Monnow Street (next to Gowers) when my husband retired from the army.
I am so proud of my granddaughter who moved to Monmouth from Blackpool when she was 16 and has done so much fundraising.
Her employers, Barclay's Bank, match what money she raises. So please help her raise more so she can meet her target.
She is a single parent, works full time and still manages to raise money for Help the Heroes
Well Done Emm.
Gwen King, nee Jerred
(Torfaen)
