•Chief Superintendent Mark Turner and Herefordshire Housing Chief Executive Peter Brown with John and Betty Fricker.
The streets of Tudorville were invaded on Tuesday when Police, experts and housing officials arrived, along with plenty of local newspaper photographers and even radio presenters to record the handing out of the first Smartwater in the county. Your reporter from the Ross Gazette was also on hand to see Herefordshire Division's Commander, Chief Superintendent Mark Turner and Herefordshire Housing Chief Executive Peter Brown distribute the high-tech forensic coding kits to residents and explain the benefits of SmartWater. SmartWater is a liquid which can be painted on property and then viewed by ultra violet light. Each quantity of SmartWater is unique so police can identify the correct owners of stolen property quickly and return it. The Herefordshire Community Policing Board and Herefordshire Housing provided the funding for the kits for residents in Churchill Place, Tudor Rise and Woodedge in Ross. This follows a number of the houses in the area being targeted by burglars in recent months.
